This month, we are shining the spotlight on our BarreBack, Sarah, and her hard work at AUXO Fitness! She has taken close to 60 classes since starting with us last July! Sarah provides clients with amazing customer service, even in the wee hours of the morning! Get to know her better below!
One woman who inspires me is: My mom of course. Once recognized, her heart for others and passion for truth and what is good is not easily ignored. She’s a fascinating person, the kind that you can live with all your life and still be struck by her wisdom and talents. Her consciousness of self, confidence in who she is, and strength in what she does are an innate part of her being. Oscar Wilde once said, “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” But I feel like my mom’s spirit would say, “Of course I must be myself, who else could I be?”
My weirdest phobia is: Injuries; not necessarily to myself, but when I think about what is actually happening when someone breaks a bone or tears a ligament etc. I start to cringe. Blegh. I’ll never be a doctor, nurse, or anything that deals with bodies doing what they’re not supposed to.
My favorite song to work out to is: Dancing Queen! But there’s so many good ones – half of which I heard for the first time at AUXO, the other half of which I couldn’t recall their names. I love it when I recognize a song during a workout and usually attempt to sing along. However, if you’ve ever taken Barre Sculpt, or any class really, you can understand why that doesn’t last long. Thus, breathing through the burn suffices and singing will probably happen in the car as I pull out of AUXO, pumped with post-workout power!
A place I would love to visit is: France! Parce que je veux apprendre plus de la langue!! (Because I want to learn more about the language.) I would particularly love to visit Provence and the countryside. It’s absolutely gorgeous!!
My favorite Barre/Pilates move is: Hard to say. Probably just good old crunches. Crunches just leave you with the satisfied feeling of working hard. Then its time for stretches, which are also favorites of mine.If I could have one superpower, it would be: Maybe invisibility. With invisibility, you can do those quiet acts of kindness, which may not be accepted otherwise. Good can be done, and then you can just slip into the background. Either that, or if there was some way I could let every individual know and feel that they are loved. Because they always are, they just may not know it or feel it. No one should live uncared for. When I need to de-stress, I: Usually go outside. There’s something about the bigness of the outdoors that makes the things that stress me out seem smaller. It’s also good reminder that the world isn’t going to fall apart. The sun will keep shining, or, depending on Florida weather, the rain will keep falling. The things that are bothering me now will be overcome, sorted through, or understood later on.
My favorite aspect of AUXO is: Our focus on empowerment. AUXO doesn’t just talk about it, they do it. The instructors don’t stop at telling you to listen to your body, they show you how to. Alix, Brinn and everyone involved, they don’t just say they want to be there for you, they really are. They don’t just idealize a community of strong women, they’ve made it happen, because they really do care. And as a young woman myself, I feel supported. The workouts aren’t focused on making a body more appealing, they’re focused on taking care of yourself, the appealing part just comes with it.
