This month, we are excited to shine the spotlight on our FlowMaster, Lauren. She has taken over 860 classes at AUXO Fitness since starting with us in August 2015! Incredible! Not only that, but she has taught over 190 classes, serving at least 1400 clients since she started leading BodyFlow at AUXO in May 2016. Check out our Q&A to get to know her better!
One woman who inspires me is: My mom is always one of my inspirations. She is the kindest, most sincere person I’ve ever met. She’s has always been the biggest supporter for my sister and I, and is a very talented teacher. She also is an incredibly warm and generous person, and makes friends everywhere she turns. I try everyday to be a bit more like her!
Many of the women at AUXO also inspire me to keep showing up and giving it my all. So many strong women with incredible personal and professional stories. I’m happy to call many of them my close friends, and am always glad to see so many of my inspirations each day at the Barre!
My weirdest phobia is: My weirdest phobia has to be walking anywhere outside of my house while barefoot, especially on wooden surfaces. I just hate feeling like my feet are dirty….and my fear of splinters is very real!
A not so weird phobia is my fear of heights. That is especially fun with all the flying I do for work (:/)…it also has prevented me from doing things like: progressing beyond the green slopes when skiing, going to the top of the Eiffel tower, and getting anywhere near the viewpoint at the Grand Canyon. Sigh.
My favorite song to workout is: Most of the BodyFlow tracks! I specifically love Tai Chi which has many catchy tracks. Some of my favorite BodyFlow Tai Chi songs are “Line of Sight” by Odesza and “What Do You Love” by Seeb feat. Jacob Banks. I also love any of the really powerful Bodyflow tracks such as “Squeeze Me” by Keir and “This is Me” from the Greatest Showman. Gotta love the chance to stand in our own strength! For Barre, I love most of the themed playlists.
One thing I can’t stop buying at AUXO is: Anything that is soft/cozy, or has to do with the Gators or Gainesville! One of my favorite things lately has been my new Gainesville grey tank top … So cute!
A place I would love to visit is: New Zealand is on the top of my list. Not just because the country as whole looks beautiful, but it also is the headquarters of Les Mills. It’s definitely a dream of mine to go there and take classes taught by some of my role models!
My favorite BodyFlow move is: My favorite BodyFlow move has to be star or floating half moon, especially when we’re switching from side to side. Such a challenge, but it always feels fun and dance-y!
If I could have one superpower it would be: To be able to control time. I never feel like there is enough time to get everything done. And many people who know me, know that I try to fit too much in to a small amount of time. This results in my occasional tardiness, despite my best intentions to be on time!
If I could speed up time, I could also move through some of the Barre quad sets a little quicker, too. 😉
When I need to de-stress, I: In addition to spending much of my free time at AUXO to help me get through all of life’s stresses, I de-stress by spending time with my friends, family, and furr-mily (two cats, Gandalf and Gypsy). Some of my close friends I met here at AUXO, so it’s even better when we can work out and see each other at the same time!
I also love traveling and exploring new places, to de-stress and find some perspective! Anything outdoors is my jam. My husband, Michael, and I really enjoy trying out new restaurants/coffee shops/breweries/wineries, locally or in new cities, and getting the chance to hike or walk around. Some of our most recent trips include Mendoza, Argentina; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Louisville/Lexington, KY; Nashville, TN; and, Asheville, NC. I’m an addict – let me know where I should travel to next!
My favorite aspect of AUXO is: The energy and the people! No matter what type of day I’ve had, I can always come to AUXO and shake it off (pun intended? 🙂 ). Having the support system helps energize you to do your best, even on days where you weren’t quite in the mood to workout. At AUXO, I can find the perfect balance of challenge and rejuvenation. I found this balance particularly important when training for my most recent Triathlon, which was complemented very well by taking Bodyflow / Barre / Restorative Rolling.
