Carrie has been taking Barre classes consistently since Nov. 2016, and especially during the summer, she is able to incorporate BodyFlow and Yoga into her routine, too! With over 300 classes under her belt, we couldn’t be more excited to announce that Carrie has been unanimously selected as our September Barre Star! Way to go!
We are continuously impressed with her hard work, dedication, and consistency, and we are so excited to see her continue to thrive at AUXO Fitness! Read Carrie’s Q&A below to learn more about her.
Q: Where are you from, and how long have you been in Gainesville?
A: I have lived in Gainesville for most of my life. My parents moved to Gainesville when I was 4 years old. We moved to Connecticut my sophomore year in High School. I was very home sick and when I graduated from High School I moved back to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. Gainesville has been my home ever since.
Q: What’s your favorite Barre-themed shirt?
A: My favorite barre themed shirts are ones that reference dogs or puppies. I loved the one this summer to support Gainesville Pet Rescue, Puppies at the Barre.
Q: Tell us something fun about yourself/what you do when you’re not at AUXO.
A: My family and I love to spend time at Lake Santa Fe. We love to do anything on the water from floating on rafts to boating around the lake on our deck boat.
Q: Was your first Barreclass what you expected? Why or why not?
A: My first Barre class was not what I expected. I thought it was going to be like every other exercise program I have tried and failed. I was so surprised my beginning Barre classes gave me the confidence to make a change to my fitness health.
Q: Why did you decide to continue with AUXO Fitness after your free week by investing in an unlimited membership?
A: My goal is to never have to use my handicapped sticker. I had to start small by getting 3 months unlimited contract, then a 6 months unlimited and finally a 12 month unlimited contract. I started going about 2-3 times a week and I was getting stronger. Now I have more good days than bad days, so I am slowly meeting my goal. I have to still balance going to physical therapy and Barre but I feel better about my body fitness and mental health.
Q: What makes this workout different from other exercises you have experienced?
A: This wonderful staff at Auxo Fitness makes me feel that I can complete and do anything. They are supportive in all aspects in my life from my fitness to my classroom to my family life.
Q: What is your favorite Barremove? Why?
A: I love the pretzel. It is a challenging exercise but I see growth in my strength every time that I do the movement.
Q: What results have you noticed after doing Barre/BodyFlow/yoga consistently?
A: The most obvious to me is that my clothes fit better but it is much more than that. My body craves a consistent exercise program. I especially notice this when I am on vacation or “life happens” and I cannot attend.
Q: Have you experienced any benefits from Barrethat have affected you not just physically, but mentally, too?
A: Exercise confidence is the greatest benefit I have seen from taking classes at Auxo Fitness.
Q: What keeps you motivated to continue coming to Barre?
A: I keep coming to Barre because of the feeling of family I get when I attend classes. Everyone is genuinely nice and they create an environment that is caring and supportive. In addition, I love the strength I get from the classes and sense of accomplishment when I finish a class. Even if I have had a rough day or physically exhausted, I feel better coming and working-out and seeing my Barre friends and my instructor. Each class makes me physically and mentally stronger.
Q: Is there anything you would like to share with potential new clients about your experience at AUXO Fitness? Any helpful tips for those who are considering trying Barre, but are nervous?
A: Before my first Barre class, I was terrified because it was my first exercise class since my neck surgery and other medical issues. I was not sure if I could complete it, or would be strong enough to complete the stretches and strengthening exercises. Heather Nations, my Barre instructor, was amazing. When we got through the arms sections, I thought to myself I can do this. Then the next section of the class I thought to myself that this feels great and I love that everybody was working on their own form and difficulty level. As the class progressed, I was hooked and motivated to complete my free week of classes. I felt that coming to Barre could be a lifestyle change. I have completed 300 class from my start back in November 2016, so it was a lifestyle change.
