Meet our July Barre Star, Sheilah! Sheilah has taken over 100 classes at AUXO Fitness since starting with us last August . She is crushing it!
She shows up, works hard, and has become an integral part of the AUXO community! We appreciate her attending workshops, retreats, and events with us, too. The entire team is impressed with her commitment to her health, which is why she has been overwhelmingly selected as our July Barre Star.
We love having Sheilah as a part of our AUXO Fitness family, and we are excited to see her continue to thrive at the Barre! Read on to learn more about her.
Where are you from, and how long have you been in Gainesville?
I was born and raised in the United Kingdom and from the age of 3 grew up in Scotland. I have lived in Gainesville 3 different times since 1986 – dispersed with time in Illinois and Michigan. I am now home for good!
What’s your favorite Barre-themed shirt?
That has to be my 100-class tank – I was so proud to get that!!!
Tell us something fun about yourself/what you do when you’re not at Barre?
I like to foster pets with special needs until they can find their “furever” home or end up living with me permanently!
Was your first Barre class what you expected? Why or why not?
It was better than I expected! How can an hour go so fast? I was worried about being coordinated enough for “the moves”, but they are explained and demonstrated well and easier than they look.
Why did you decide to continue with Barre Forte after your free week by investing in an unlimited membership?
I knew this was the place for me, the workouts are varied, and I feel stronger and more flexible and never “beaten up”. Another huge plus was the atmosphere and feeling of family and support from everyone.
What makes this workout different from other exercises you have experienced?
The variety of the different classes plus no 2 classes are ever the same. It is the combination of strength training, flexibility and endurance I have been looking for. Plus, you can tailor it to your own needs and ability.
What is your favorite Barre move so far? Why?
I like the “curtsy” move – it makes me feel like the ballerina I never was!
What results have you noticed after doing Barre consistently?
Muscle strength and tone is number one – the light weights and small movements do a lot more than I thought they would.
Have you experienced any benefits from Barre that have affected you not just physically, but mentally, too?
What is your favorite “bonus” class that you have participated in and why?
I LOVE the kickboxing classes – basically because they are totally “bad ass” and great fun. Very empowering.
Is there anything you would like to share with potential new clients about your experience at Barre Forte? Any helpful tips for those who are considering trying Barre, but are nervous?
You are never judged, everyone who takes classes and works there is friendly and supportive. There is wide age range between participants, but your will never feel out of place or made to feel like you need to compete.
If you have anything to add at all, please feel free.
Amazing value for money!
