Meet our January Barre Star, Sarah! Sarah has been taking Barre (in addition to other AUXO offerings, such as kickboxing, burlesque, and meditation) consistently since July 2018, and has taken close to 200 classes! We were honored to help her get wedding dress-ready last year, and have been so impressed with her dedication to her health and well-being. Not to mention, she always brings a dose of cheerfulness to the studio! Get to know more about Sarah below:
Q: Where are you from, and how long have you been in Gainesville?
A: I grew up in Sarasota, FL. I went to UF for nursing school and from there moved to Philly for 3 years. We returned to Gainesville for my husband’s job and we have been back here for 1.5 years.
Q: What do you do when you’re not at AUXO?
A: I love to read! And cook delicious meals!
Q: What makes this workout different from other exercises you have experienced?
A: I feel like AUXO workouts are personalized for you individually even though you are taught in a group environment. I really like how everyone knows your name, and you are always greeted with a big smile–like each instructor truly appreciates you being there. Plus the classes are fun! The movements are small, but boy can you feel them for the next few days!
Q: Have you experienced any benefits from Barre that have affected you not just physically, but mentally, too?
A: I feel like the mental benefits of attending classes at AUXO have been even greater for me than the physical. I respond well to signing up for a class ahead of time and making sure I get there in the morning; the app is a sort of accountability for me. I work 3 shifts a week, and I try to take a class every day I’m off. I’ve noticed if I don’t get to class it completely affects my mood for the rest of the day. And if I start my day off with barre, I’m infinitely happier and feel accomplished!
Q: Which of AUXO’s Core Values most resonates with you and why?
A: The AUXO Core Value I relate most to is ‘Personal Transformation.’ I really think I’ve become a better, stronger, more genuine person from taking classes at AUXO. It’s really amazing how just one hour a day adds up over a year and a half. 6) Try it out! The best thing I did was signing up for my first class. From there I was hooked—exercise is so good for you!!
