Meet our June #BarreStar, Autumn W. This Barre-Mama-to-be has taken over 78 classes at Barre Forte-Gainesville since she started with us in October, and we couldn’t be more proud of her! We are thrilled to be a part of her pregnancy journey as she prepares for the arrival of her son in early August!
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and came to Gainesville in the fall of 1999 as a college freshman at UF, and I never left! Now I’m a Physicians Assistant, and I’ve been at Alliance Family Physicians for 4 years.
There are sooooo many to chose from but the winner is definitely “Will tuck for Tacos.” Truer words have never been spoken.
I consider myself a Wanderlust! I LOVE to travel and experience new cultures. Nothing is off limits. My favorite trip to date is the 10 days I spent in Morocco last year soaking up the culture in the city markets and camel trekking in the Sahara with the local Berber people.
Well I guess I cheated a little as I researched Barre workouts ahead of time so I didn’t look completely lost in my first class! Kara was my first instructor, and I had a tough yet fun workout that flew by. I definitely was a tad more sore the next than I had anticipated with such small, “paperclip-sized” movements done throughout the hour-long class.
After my trial week, I was hooked. Historically, I get bored after a while in my workout routines and I’m always looking for something new and challenging. Barre Forte came on the scene at just the right time: something completely new in an environment full of cheerful, encouraging women who welcomed me with open arms.
While I’ve done full body workouts before, I’ve never experienced one where such small, repetitive movements produce such good results!
Bridges! I love how I can feel my glutes burning so I know it’s working.
Before I got pregnant, I noticed my arms and legs slimming down and my abs starting to show dome definition. Now that I’m 7 months pregnant, Barre Forte is helping me stay in shape so my pregnancy is easier and hopefully it won’t be as difficult to get that pre-baby body back.
I know no matter how tired or cranky I am, I’ve never left Barre feeling the same way. I always walk to my car, with my trail mix reward in hand, in a good mood full of energy.
The results I’ve seen both physically and mentally and the friends I’ve made at Barre Forte keep me coming back consistently.
This is a fun, yet challenging workout for all ages, sizes and fitness levels. If a 7-months pregnant woman can make it through class with the modifications given to her by her instructors, then anyone can do it! Consistency is the key and soon you’ll be a pro. We were all new once, too.
Definitely Bring a Boy to Barre. I thoroughly enjoyed watching my very fit husband sweat and shake the whole class.
While Barre is challenging when not pregnant, it takes on a whole new level with 20 pounds strapped to your waist! As the weeks progress, all my instructors have been right there giving me tips for modifications before, during, and after class—whatever it takes to keep me moving and engaged for the entire hour. I listen to my body and just go with the flow. I know keeping up with my workouts consistently, even when I’m tired and sore, is going to help me get through this pregnancy and have an easier delivery. Everyone has been very encouraging of commitment and progress and Barre has done wonders for my mental health and body image, which can be affected as your body changes in ways you didn’t expect. At the end of the day, I’m proud of myself :)
