July Barre Stars
This month Barre Forte Gainesville has the pleasure of having TWO Barre Stars! Dynamic mother-daughter duo Bobbie and Amanda have impressed us with their enthusiasm and BIG smiles during classes, whether it is 5:30am or 7:30pm, and they have quickly become dedicated members of our Barre Forte Family. Learn more about these amazing ladies, here:
1) Where are you from, and how long have you been in Gainesville?
Bobbie - I am originally from New Jersey, but lived in Tampa for 38 years. Five years ago we moved to Gainesville to be near Amanda and her family.
Amanda - I am from Tampa, FL. I moved to Gainesville in 2005 to attend UF and never left.
2) What's your favorite Barre-themed shirt?
Bobbie - The black tank with “Wake. Caffeinate. Tuck & Shake. Radiate.” It’s soft and comfortable.
Amanda – “Messy locks and sticky socks” – such a perfect motto. I always rock a messy bun, and I love my sticky socks!
3) Was your first Barre class what you expected?
Bobbie - I had no idea what to expect, but it was a great challenge, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
4) Tell us something fun about yourself.
Amanda - I work as the Director for a housing for homeless veterans program in Alachua County. I absolutely love serving the laudable veterans of Alachua County. However, I am also the proud owner of The Golden Gator, a customized airbrush tanning salon located a block from the UF campus. I opened my salon in 2007 and absolutely love being a small business owner.
5) Why did you decide to invest in a membership at Barre Forte?
Bobbie - The Barre Forte staff, with their friendly, warm personalities was one major selling point. Of course the variety of classes and diverse workouts makes Barre Forte the perfect place to exercise.
Amanda - I knew after attending my first Barre class that I would be a repeat customer and purchasing a package made the most sense economically. Additionally, my mom absolutely loved Barre and knowing that this was something we could do together sealed the decision to invest in a membership.
6) Was your first Barre class what you expected?
Amanda - I was completely unfamiliar with Barre when I attended my first class so I truly had no expectations. However, I was addicted after my first class and knew I would be a repeat attendee.
7) What makes this workout different from other exercises you have experienced?
Bobbie - Each instructor’s routine differs ensuring an hour of intense exercise that keeps my muscles and mind working. At other gyms the class becomes boring because there is no variety.
Amanda - I have always enjoyed working out; however, I tend to allow the chaos of everyday life interfere with my workout routines. Having my mom as an accountability partner definitely makes this experience different. Additionally, I truly look forward to attending Barre. Classes are challenging yet rewarding, the setting is welcoming and the staff is genuinely friendly and caring.
8) What is your favorite Barre move so far?
Bobbie - Seriously, the stretching between each move is my favorite. My body enjoys stretching my shaking muscles.
Amanda - I probably should have a favorite Barre move by now but I honestly do not. I enjoy all of the Barre moves. I find many of them challenging, and I can’t deny that I might let out a lengthy sigh when I hear the words, “pretzel or plie squat.” But truthfully, these challenging moves only motivate me and encourage me to continue working hard to achieve a stronger pretzel or a deeper squat. I love every Barre move!
9) What results have you noticed so far?
Bobbie - My legs have really become toned and strong! I love it!
Amanda - After having 2 beautiful daughters results are what really motivate me. Since I started Barre two months ago I have noticed that my arms are stronger and my waist has slimmed down. I am looking forward to the results I will see after attending Barre for 6 months, 12 months and beyond.
10) Have you experienced any benefits from Barre that have affected you not just physically, but mentally, too?
Bobbie - No matter how tired I may be before class, the music and challenging class leaves me exhilarated and satisfied.
Amanda - The benefits from attending Barre are immeasurable. Barre allows me to distress after a frenzied day at work and forces me to focus on my mind and body. Barre provides me with one hour in my day that I can mentally unwind and decompress while still physically strengthening and toning
11) What keeps you motivated to continue coming to Barre so consistently?
Bobbie - That 1 hour of class passes quickly due to the great instructors. The routines are never the same and the different equipment incorporated into the sessions make for a fresh, challenging class.
Amanda - I look forward to attending Barre every day. The euphoric feeling I walk away with post-class as well as the changes I have seen in my body in the past 2 months keep me motivated to continue coming to Barre so consistently.
12) Is there anything you would like to share with potential new clients?
Bobbie - For anyone that is hesitant, I suggest taking advantage of the week of the free classes. Try to go to as many classes possible, and I’m sure they’ll be less skeptical.
Amanda - TRY IT! Attending my first Barre class is one of the best decisions I have made in a while. The environment is welcoming, clean and refreshing. The Barre staff is beyond friendly and they truly are there to support you and guide you throughout the class.
13) What has been your favorite Barre event with us?
Bobbie - Mommy and Me was so much fun! Having my grand-daughter, Ella, partake in class was super. She saw first hand what Nana and Mom do several times each week.
Amanda - I loved the Mommy and Me Barre event. Anytime I can share something I enjoy with my daughter is rewarding and brings us closer together.
